Do these two look like hardened criminals?
Do these two look like they should have been arrested?
Is there such an uproar when two women want to have a little fun in a bathroom?
And, how exactly is the Carolina Panthers PR person going to handle these calls?
According to the AP photo desk,
Carolina Panthers cheerleaders, Renee Thomas, left, and Angela Keathley, shown in these Hillsborough County, Fla., Sheriff's Office booking photos, were arrested early Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005 after a bar dispute that broke out after patrons complained the women were allegedly having sex in a bathroom stall.
So, how should this be handled? First thought is that it's good to see that Florida is still an uptight state, and hasn't calmed down since the days of 2 Live Crew was arrested. But, was this worthy of calling out the cops, and having them arrested?
And, well, with all the problems football is having this year, does this need to be brought up? Likely, these two will be fired from the cheerleading squad, will be the blunt of jokes on late night television for the week, and cause little harm to the Panthers.
As for what should the PR person do? Well, less is better than more in this type of situation. Put out a small statement, and let it go away. With blogs, yes, this will go on for a little bit, but that should be fine. Plus, it will get people to watch the games.
Update: the cheerleaders have been kicked off the team, and the bigger complaint was the monopolizing of a stall.
They're really pretty cheerleaders. What a waste. Any contact with them?
